Class of 2018: Sign up now for SOAR!

Register for SOAR Aug. 8

Will you be a freshman at MSU in August? Be sure to sign up for SOAR.

What is SOAR? Student Orientation, Advising and Registration – SOAR – will help you select a major, classes for the fall semester and much more. You’ll find out what to expect as a new student, get your Eagle ID, and learn about housing, student activities, dining options, etc.

We will offer several SOAR sessions this spring – sign up now at visit

What can I expect at SOAR? Check-in will begin at 8:45 a.m. on the first floor of the Adron Doran University Center (ADUC). Shuttles will be available to transport you to the Little Bell Tower. From there, it’s a short walk to ADUC.

If you need assistance during your SOAR session due to a permanent or temporary disability, contact Evangeline Day, disability services coordinator, in advance at 606-783-5188 or

There are a few things you will want to keep in mind when planning for SOAR:

  • Parents are strongly encouraged to attend.
  • You will be walking around campus so make sure to dress comfortably.
  • There’s no charge for the SOAR program, but you will want to bring money for lunch. The food court on the 2nd floor of ADUC will be open.
  • You don’t need to bring anything with you. However, if you have recently taken the ACT, you may want to bring a copy of the results with you.
  • SOAR is a one-day program so an overnight stay is not required. If you choose to stay overnight, here's a list of area hotels.
  • School excuses (if needed), will be available on the first floor of ADUC following your advising session.

We look forward to seeing you at SOAR! If you have any questions prior to your session, contact the Office of First Year Programs at 606-783-5208 or

If you have a sibling or child age 6–12 that will be attending SOAR with you, be sure to check out Camp Eagle. This program will take place during the parent session and your academic advising session. Participants will play games and write letters for the new Eagles in their family. Plus, each participant will receive a Camp Eagle T-shirt. You may sign up for this when you register online.
