 Undergraduate Degree Completion Checklist

This checklist identifies minimum graduation requirements only. Refer to your program evaluation for requirements specific to your academic program. Some programs require a higher GPA, more hours, etc.
 

1. Submit your degree application to the Registrar's Office in order to become a degree candidate. Degree applications must be received by October 15 for Fall graduation or March 15 for Spring/Summer graduation.
 

2. Degree candidates need to meet residency requirements. Bachelors degree candidates need at least 32 MSU hours completed. Associate degree candidates need at least 16 MSU hours completed.
 

3. Degree candidates need an MSU GPA of 2.0 or higher.
 

4. Teaching degree candidates need a Teacher Ed GPA of 2.75 or higher.
 

5. Bachelors degree candidates need the following minimums toward degree:

a. If your catalog year is before 2010, you need 128 hours, 43 of which is upper division (300+ level courses).
 

b. If your catalog year is 2010 or later, you need 120 hours, 42 of which is upper division.

6. Associate degree candidates need the following minimums toward degree:

a. If your catalog year is before 2010, you need 64 hours.
 

b. If your catalog year is 2010 or later, you need 60 hours.

7. BS degree candidates need at least 60 hours completed in science and science related courses.
 

8. Degree candidates cannot graduate with incomplete grades.
 

9. Each program of study (major, minor, area of concentration or 2-year program) of degree candidates need to have a GPA of 2.0 or higher.
 

10. Each teaching program of study of degree candidates need to have a GPA of 2.75 or higher.
 

11. Degree candidates need to complete all General Education requirements.
 

12. Degree candidates need to complete all specific degree requirements within their academic program.  This includes course requirements, minimum grade requirements, minimum hours within the program, minimum GPA, and residency requirements.
 

13. Bachelors degree candidates with a major need at least a minor.
 

14. No more than two bachelor's degrees may be awarded simultaneously and final approval of both degree programs must be obtained from each of the appropriate departments and college(s).
 

15. Bachelors honors degree candidates need at least 43 MSU hours completed and an MSU GPA of 3.5 or higher. Associate honors degree candidates need at least 32 MSU hours completed and an MSU GPA of 3.6 or higher to graduate with distinction.
 

16. Developmental hours DO NOT count towards hours completed.
