Department of Military Science

Army ROTC is a program of leadership and military skills training. It prepares Morehead State students for officer responsibilities in the Active Army, Army Reserve, or Army National Guard following graduation.

Why Choose Army ROTC at MSU?

  • Cadets serving in the Army National Guard or Army Reserves receive 100% tuition assistance (tuition paid through the reserve component), plus up to $1,100 per month in stipend and GI Bill benefits
  • Combat and active duty veterans enrolled in ROTC receive 100% tuition assistance, plus up to $2,200 per month, and receive priority/early registration for classes
  • Free room for all contracted cadets and free meal plans for the top 5 freshmen cadets
  • Up to 28 hours of elective credit towards an undergraduate degree for military science classes

Scholarships Available 

Tuition and room scholarships are available for qualified and contracted cadets. 

Campus based scholarships may include:

  • 100% tuition and fees payment
  • $1,200 book allowance per year
  • Free on-campus housing
  • Additional $300-$500 monthly stipend

Our Facilities: 

We are located in the scenic foothills of the Appalachian Mountains and have training areas within the Daniel Boone National Forest and Cave Run Lake.

Many classes are located in MSU's Button Auditorium. The top floor of Button Auditorium is dedicated to cadet classrooms, cadre offices, a computer lab, a military library, cadet offices for MS IV's, the cadet lounge and the Eagle Conference Room. The ground floor contains our drill room (left side of entrance) and the auditorium (right side of entrance). The basement has the indoor rifle range, supply rooms and supply and rifle team offices.

The campus also features numerous training locations for our battalion including:

  • Eagle Lake
  • MSU's Recreation and Wellness Center (Morning PT)
