Psychology is the scientific study of behavior. Psychologists use the principles and methods of science to try to understand why people think, feel, and act the way that they do. Psychologists also apply the knowledge that psychology has accumulated about human behavior to try to solve practical problems. For more information about what psychologists do, see subfields of psychology (pdf). Students at Morehead State University can pursue a major, area of concentration, or minor in Psychology. Masters degrees are also offered in both clinical and experimental psychology. Beginning Fall 2014, the Department of Psychology will be offering a Bachelor of Science degree in Neuroscience. Faculty members in the Department of Psychology have a wide range of professional and research interests. So in addition to coursework, there are many opportunities for students to get involved in faculty-guided research.
