Program Info

By combining courses in social studies fields and education, the Area of Concentration in Social Studies prepares students for teacher certification at the secondary level (grades 8 through 12) in at least four teaching fields.

MSU Admission Requirements 

Teacher Education Program Requirements 

TK20 application to Teacher Education Program and completion of a minimum of 45 hours for secondary education. Hours must include: ENG 100; ENG 200; CMSP 108; EDF 207; and EDF 211. Minimum overall GPA of 2.5 on ALL course work.

Program Requirements 

Specified History courses 24 hours
Specified Geography courses 12 hours
Specified Government courses 9 hours
Specified Economics courses 6 hours
Curriculum Instruction for Social Studies 3 hours.

Requirements Total 54 Credit Hours

Additional supplemental requirements (Professional Education) 30 credit hours.
