Francene Botts-Butler is originally from Lexington, KY, now residing in Morehead, KY. Francene received her Bachelor of Science degree in Political Science, with a 2nd Major in English from Kentucky State University. She received a Master of Arts in Political Science, emphasis in Public Law and Public Administration from Bowling Green State University and a Juris Doctorate from the University of Kentucky College of Law.
Francene began working at Morehead State University in July 1995, as the Director of Human Resources. During this time she was involved in the KY Society of Human Resources, American Association of Affirmative Action, National Association of College and University Attorneys, MSU African/African-American Professional Coalition, and many other activities. Francene joined the Division of Student Life on July 1, 1998, as the Director of Multicultural Student Services. She was also appointed as the Affirmative Action Officer after serving as the Interim last academic year. Previous to that she was the Affirmative Action Officer at Oklahoma State University and served six and one half years in the US Army JAG Corps. While in the JAG Corps, Francene served as Legal Assistant Attorney, Administrative Law Attorney, Trial Counsel, and Defense Counsel. She was also appointed as a Special Assistant U.S. Attorney for the Western District of Washington.
Francene is currently involved with her sorority, Alpha Kappa Alpha and her church, Evergreen Baptist. She enjoys reading, cooking and maintaining her health.
