College of Education - Advising Center
The Education Advising Center for the College of Education at Morehead State University was established to serve students seeking teaching certification at the undergraduate level. Advising is a crucial element in the successful completion of a teacher education program. Students need to make every effort to work closely with their advisor as they progress through their degree in order to stay up-to-date with changes in teacher education. In addition, regular meetings with advisors will enable students to know when to apply to the TEP and allow students to graduate in a timely manner.
Two full-time academic advisors work in the College of Education Advising Center to assist students seeking teaching certification in early childhood, elementary, middle grades, and/or special education. Tina Stevens advises students last names A-J and Teresa Johnson advises students last names K-Z. In addition to the advisors in Morehead, the College of Education also employs one part time advisor, Teresa Petot, who serve education students at our regional campus location in Prestonsburg. Our advisors assist students in deciding which teaching certification they wish to pursue and semester-by-semester class selection; in addition they work closely with students to prepare for and complete the application process for the Teacher Education Program (TEP).
