PERFORMANCE AREAS AND ENSEMBLES
The opportunities for performance for students at Morehead State University are virtually unlimited. All music majors are required to participate the major ensemble for their performance medium. But the opportunities do not stop there. Students also perform chamber music of various instrumentation and works for large and small ensembles of the same instrument. Many students participate in several large vocal and instrumental ensembles which are part of the MSU Band, Orchestral, and Vocal programs.
Ensemble performance is part of the curriculum where the student has the opportunity to apply the skills developed in private lessons and in music academics. The various components of the music degree are integrated together to form a single product of overall musicianship. Large and small ensemble performance is essential to achieving this integrated product.
Theatre and Dance students as well as students across campus have opportunities to participate in the MSU Dance Ensemble and several theatrical productions each academic year. Theatre majors are required to participate in all aspects of the productions for each season. This participation is integrated throughout the theatre curriculum. The Little Company exists to provide theatre performances in area schools. Theatre students are selected to perform in this elite traveling ensemble.
