Morehead State University Career Services works to prepare students for internship/job interviews, career fairs and to give them the help they need to find success in today’s job market. However, it also knows that the possibility of landing a job could be hanging by a thread.Potential employers view professional attire as very important when considering candidates for a position.
“Whether fair or not, employers judge your work ethic based on how you dress,” said Julia Hawkins, director of career services. “It’s imperative to dress professionally for all interviews and networking events.”Despite this information, many MSU students and recent graduates don’t own a suit and lack the resources to purchase one for themselves. This was the inspiration for MSU Career Services to establish its “Suit Bank.”Started in 2010, the Suit Bank provides students with professional attire for free thanks to generous contributions from alumni, faculty, staff, community members and others concerned with the success of our students. From the time Suit Bank started until June 2012, approximately 86 students have been suited up and dressed for future success.Refer an MSU student or alum that could benefit from our Suit Bank. Donations of professional dress (suits, ties, dark slacks and dress shirts) are accepted from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday at the Morehead State University Career Center, 428 University Boulevard, Morehead, KY 40351 (across the street from Baird Music Hall). For more information, call 606-783-2233 or visit www.moreheadstate.edu/career.Fall 2012 Career FairOct. 2, 10 a.m. – 1 p.m., Crager Room, ADUCRegistration for employers/graduate schools is open in JobLink.www.moreheadstate.edu/career
