A Welcome from Dr. Parsons

Lynn ParsonsDear Prospective Student:

On behalf of the entire, faculty, staff and student body, I welcome you to the Department of Nursing at Morehead State University. I am glad you are considering attending MSU, and I look forward to helping you learn more about the exciting programs offered in our department. Whether you are an incoming, first-year student, or a working professional looking to further your education, the Department of Nursing has a program to suit your needs and your busy schedule.

Located in the Center for Health, Education and Research (CHER) building, the Department of Nursing at MSU offers you unique opportunities for hands-on learning through the use of high definition manikins which simulate a wide variety of symptoms and illnesses. Students are also assigned clinical practicums at physicians’ offices, clinics, hospices, public health departments, home health agencies, rural hospitals and large medical centers throughout the region, gaining real-world experience which will give them an edge in the job market once they graduate.

We offer a wide range of land-based classes and an online completion program to allow professionals working in the health care industry to earn their Bachelor of Schience in Nursing (BSN) degree on their own schedule.

The faculty and staff of the Department of Nursing are committed to helping you succeed, and provide a supportive, compassionate environment for student growth. The department has academic counseling coordinators who have program knowledge, are aware of admission criteria and who collaborate with nursing faculty advisors.

You have the chance to learn from experienced faculty members, some of whom actively practice in the health care field in addition to their teaching duties. The knowledge and experience of the nursing faculty will help you stay up-to-date on the latest innovations and techniques used in professional settings while you gain hands-on practical skills.

Education goes beyond the classroom at MSU. The University offers more than 100 student organizations, including a local chapter of the Student Nurses’ Association. The Department of Nursing also participates in numerous community outreach activities throughout the year, including health clinics, fundraisers and more.

I encourage you to schedule a visit to MSU, where you’ll have a chance to meet faculty members, tour our facilities and learn why MSU is the best choice in the region for nursing students. Again, I welcome you to our department and I look forward to seeing you on campus!

Sincerely,

parsons sig RIGHT SIZE
