Charles Mason is a MSU alumnus, receiving his B.S. degree in geology and biology from Morehead State. He went on to receive an M.S. from George Washington University and ABD in the PH.D. program at the University of Kentucky. He has worked his entire career in Paleontology and has contributed significantly to the understanding of the stratigraphy of the Devonian and Carboniferous Periods in Kentucky. Mr. Mason is active in professional organizations, serving as an officer in the American Institute of Professional Geologists (AIPG) and the Kentucky Academy of Sciences. He is a licensed professional geologist with both the AIPG and the Commonwealth of Kentucky. He is also very active with the students’ geology club at Morehead State, inspiring many new people to enter the field of geology.
