Research Interests: Dr. Newsome's specialty is teaching Aikido (a form of martial art) which incorporates balance, breathing, posture and fluid movement. He has been training in Aikido for over 30 years and is the faculty mentor and chief instructor of the Morehead State University Aikido Club.
Bio Johnny Newsome Ph.D. has been teaching health and physical education for over twenty years. He has taught all ages from elementary students through senior citizens and focuses on self improvement and healthy active living rather than competition. Dr. Newsome believes that the foundation of healthy living is to participate in enjoyable activities that give us appropriate challenges. His current hobbies include whitewater kayaking, bicycling and hiking. He has recently taken up snowboarding because he firmly believes that continually learning new skills is essential to living a full life.
