Small Business Management & Entrepreneurship
The Small Business Management & Entrepreneurship concentration is an applied study of small business ownership and management, of the entrepreneur as an agent of innovation, and of entrepreneurship as an organization/management process. Although generally focused on issues relating to new or small ventures, the program also explores entrepreneurial concepts without regard to company age or size. The concentration includes coursework in the financial, management, marketing, and legal aspects of new and growing entrepreneurial ventures.
Graduates of the Accounting Program are equipped with the tools and techniques that will enable them to assume entry-level positions in public accounting, industry, government, and other institutions. Accounting students complete a sequence of accounting courses which prepares them to set up an accounting system, make ready all standard financial statements, and analyze accounting data and statements for use in managerial decision making. The Accounting Program is designed to help students meet academic requirements for taking the CPA and other professional accounting exams.
The purpose of the General Business Option is to prepare students in all areas of business. A graduate can enter small business, marketing, information technology, federal and state government, end-user computing, insurance, real estate, banking institutions, sales, or entry into an MBA program.
