Bio
David Campbell is the Center for
Virtual Appalachia (CVA)Director and Web Manager for SPA. He is a graduate of
Morehead State University, where he completed a BS in Geology in 1996. He
attended graduate school at the University of Kentucky and continued work
towards his MS in Geology until 1999, at which point he co-founded a web and
multi-media company in Lexington, KY.
Started primarily as a web
design firm, the company quickly evolved into an educational multimedia firm, as
well. David worked with publishing firm Houghton-Mifflin on several college
textbook e-learning projects, and spearheaded development of a global web-based
learning system for Glaxo-Smith-Kline. He also worked with British Petroleum in
conjunction with Region 4 EPA on development of a web-based training system.
In 2004, he left Lexington and relocated back to his home town of West
Liberty, Kentucky, where he started a new web development firm. In addition to
web design and computer repair, David also began teaching basic computer
education classes at the MSU Regional Enterprise Center in West Liberty, and
partnered with Maysville Community College to offer a 4-week course on Starting
an Online Business.
David began work at MSU in July 2005 and will
primarily be building and maintaining the CVA and SPA websites. He feels a
special connection to the people and places of Appalachia and is excited about
working to further develop the CVA.
