ART AND DESIGN

Since the late 1800s, Morehead State University has evolved from one modest makeshift classroom into the high-tech world of the 21st century. Today, MSU enrolls more than 9,000 students from Kentucky, 42 states, and 37 nations. The Department of Art and Design is part of the School of the Arts within the Caudill College of Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences.

The Department of Art and Design, a widely recognized and distinguished center of excellence, has an impressive history of serving and enriching the region since the 1920s. As part of a great university within the atmosphere of a small community, the department enrolls nearly 160 majors that hail from several states and foreign countries and employs a distinguished faculty of more than fifteen instructors with extensive credentials and professional expertise. Department alumni are recognized artists, scholars, teachers, and leaders in arts and arts education with noteworthy achievements regionally, nationally, and internationally.

UNDERGRADUATE PROGRAMS OF STUDY

MSU offers an undergraduate Bachelor of Arts in Art (BA) degree program with electives in painting, drawing, printmaking, photography, graphic design, ceramics, art history, computer art and sculpture. Students in art education earn a degree in Art with a P-12 Teaching Certificate. Private advanced study is offered in 2D art, 3D art, digital art, art history, and art education. Internships, undergraduate fellowships, international study, and exhibition and publication opportunities are also offered. Minor programs are offered in Studio Art, Visual Art, Art History, and Arts Administration.

GRADUATE PROGRAMS OF STUDY

The Master of Arts in Art (MA) degree offers Concentrations in Art Education, Graphic Design, or Studio Art. Exhibition and publication opportunities, co-curricular activities and international study are offered. Graduate Assistantships are available on a competitive basis.
