BioPeggy Gray is a 1978 graduate of Eastern Kentucky University with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing. Upon graduation, Peggy began her nursing career at the University of Kentucky Medical Center as a staff nurse on a Medical Surgical floor, primarily Obstetrics, Urology, and Neurosurgery. While at UKMC, she gained valuable experience in the Neurosurgery ICU and also Acute Dialysis which included both Hemo and Peritoneal Dialysis, and Renal Transplant.
After moving back to her home town of Flemingsburg to marry her high school sweetheart, she worked a short while at St. Claire Regional Medical Center as a staff nurse in the ICU/CCU, before beginning at Dialysis Clinic Inc., in Morehead. There, she continued her nursing career as a full time Nephrology nurse for the next six years, and then part time for Dialysis Clinic Inc, in Morehead and Maysville, for the next several years while employed at MSU.
Peggy began her academic career at Morehead State University in the Department of Nursing and Allied Health Sciences as the BSN Campus Lab Coordinator, in 1990. During this time as BSN Lab Coordinator, she also was a clinical instructor for various BSN courses and Radiologic Science, now known as Imaging Sciences.
The BSN position has since evolved into the Patient Care Lab Coordinator for the Dept. of Nursing. A few of her many duties include, but are not limited to, supervising daily operations of the STAT Center, scheduling usage of the PCL (STAT Nursing Center), preparing for course specific labs of all Nursing programs, supervises individual student’s practice of clinical skills along with remediation that may be needed, and coordinates the purchase of supplies and equipment for the STAT Nursing Center.
Peggy resides on a 40 acre farm in Fleming County with her husband, 2 sons and 3 dogs. They have continued the rich family history of farming which includes tobacco, beef cattle and hay production. She also enjoys gardening and traveling in the summer months, along with swimming and relaxing at the family cabin on Park Lake Mountain.
