Sergeant First Class Christopher O. Scarlet enlisted in to the US Army on 31 July 1996. Upon enlisting SFC Scarlet attended Basic training at Ft. Sill, OK. Upon his completion he was sent to Ft. Bliss, TX to receive his Advanced Individual Training (AIT) as a Bradley Linebacker crew member.
His first duty station was with 5th Battalion, 3rd Air Defense Artillery Regiment, 1st Armored Division, Mainz, Germany where he served as a Bradley Gunner. In 1998 SFC Scarlet was deployed to Bosnia in support of a NATO peacekeeping mission.
During his military career SFC Scarlet has also been station at Kitzingen, Germany; Ft. Riley, KS; Lafayette, IN; and three times at Ft. Bliss, TX. During his career SFC Scarlet has served as a Bradley Driver, Gunner, and Commander. He has also been an AIT Instructor, Army Recruiter, Platoon Sergeant for a Patriot Missile Battery, and is currently serving as Training NCO for the Morehead State Army ROTC program.
SFC Scarlet deployments also include: Iraq in May 2003 in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom, Kuwait in Feb 2010, and Qatar in Aug 2010 in support of Operation Enduring Freedom.
He has been awarded seven Army Commendation Medals, four Army Achievement Medals, five Good Conduct Medals, three Overseas Ribbons, two National Defense Service Medal, Iraqi Campaign Medal, Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary and Service Medals , Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal, Armed Forces Service Medal, NATO medal, Army Valorous Unit Award, Army Superior Unit Award, and three Noncommissioned Officers’ Professional Development Ribbons.
A native of Montgomery City, Mo., SFC Scarlet graduated from Montgomery County R-II High School in 1996. He and his wife former Virginia Maria Crapanzano of Mainz, Germany, have a daughter, Ayleen Crapanzano ,13, and a son, Marcus Anthony Scarlet,9.
