Research Interests: Angie has expertise in macro practice; early childhood; child abuse and neglect; family-centered and strength-based service delivery; and cultural competence in Appalachia.
Bio Angie Whitley holds a Bachelor of Social Work from Morehead State University (’93) and a Master of Social Work from West Virginia University with a Graduate Certificate in Nonprofit Management (’10). She is currently a Licensed Graduate Social Worker and has been a member of the National Association of Social Workers since 1995. A life-long resident of Boyd County, Angie is married and has two adult children. Angie implemented the first West Virginia Healthy Families America program, serving first-time families at risk for child abuse and neglect, serving as the Program Manager and Supervisor until 2007. During her tenure, she co-founded Partners in Community, a statewide coalition of In-Home Family Education programs in West Virginia. She served as the Chairperson and Coordinator for the organization until 2011. Angie was appointed to the State of West Virginia Early Childhood Advisory Council.
