Creative Writing

Program Info

One of few in the country, the program gives students an opportunity to be taught by accomplished faculty members who are working writers through studio-oriented creative writing workshops in poetry, fiction and creative non-fiction. Students are provided a solid foundation of literature courses and complete courses in the humanities, the natural and social sciences and world languages.

Bachelor of Fine Arts in Creative Writing
English

A degree in English prepares students for fields in which expert writing and reading skills are valued, such as Creative Arts, Law, Public Relations, and Publishing.

Admission to Morehead State University (see MSU admission requirements).

Admission Requirements: 

  • Successful completion of ENG 100 Writing and ENG 293 Introduction to Creative Writing
  • A 3 to 5 page introductory essay 
  • A 10-page Portfolio
  • Application Form 

Program Requirements:  

Creative Writing Major: 42 credit hours in addition to Gen Ed Requirements
