For aspiring education professionals, MSU's Department of Early Childhood, Elementary and Special Education provide thorough preparation and strong support in an environment that facilitates hands-on, personalized learning in the classroom combined with extensive field experiences. We are here to help you become the kind of professional educator who can meet the challenges of 21st Century classrooms.
Graduates of our programs
are prepared to pursue careers in elementary education, education in public and private schools for young children (birth through kindergarten), private childcare programs, community support services (working with people with disabilities, and working for employment programs, group homes, residential programs or comprehensive care centers) and special education.
Professional Growth and Field Experience
All of the courses you take will require extensive field experiences in which you will apply the skills you are learning in your classes to actual application with school children. You may choose to further your education through your involvement in the Professional Partnership Network. This program will allow you to spend additional time in the same classroom for three semesters, teaching you professional skills through immersion in the classroom setting.
