International and Interdisciplinary Studies Department

Remember to browse the Academic Programs link to find the program you are interested in pursuing.

This department brings together programs with many natural affinities, and promotes exciting collaborations across disciplines. Our programs in French, Spanish and Chinese offer students plenty of individual attention, and many opportunities for enhancing their education through study programs overseas. Students who elect our new major in Interdisciplinary International Studies will learn about the contemporary world in depth from a variety of perspectives. We are also proud to offer a new M.A. program in Interdisciplinary Social Sciences. Our interdisciplinary minors in Appalachian Studies, Canadian Studies, Film Studies, International Studies, and Women’s Studies draw on the expertise of faculty members from all four colleges of the University; again, students have numerous ways of enhancing their learning through overseas study, internships, and events outside the classroom. If you have questions after you look through the information on this site, please feel free to send me an e-mail by clicking on my name below, or give me a call.

"MSU provided me with such an enriching experience. I began my journey four years before college as a participant in Trio's Upward Bound and was even placed on MSU's campus for my time in the Governor's Scholar Program. After so much time on this campus, and hearing great things about the Foreign Language programs, MSU already felt like home and the obvious choice for furthering my education. Once here I realized I was right and I met many new people and learned many valuable lessons. To MSU, I say gracias, merci, grazie and thank you for everything."
