This department brings together programs with many natural affinities, and promotes exciting collaborations across disciplines. Our programs in French, Spanish and Chinese offer students plenty of individual attention, and many opportunities for enhancing their education through study programs overseas. Students who elect our new major in Interdisciplinary International Studies will learn about the contemporary world in depth from a variety of perspectives. We are also proud to offer a new M.A. program in Interdisciplinary Social Sciences. Our interdisciplinary minors in Appalachian Studies, Canadian Studies, Film Studies, International Studies, and Women’s Studies draw on the expertise of faculty members from all four colleges of the University; again, students have numerous ways of enhancing their learning through overseas study, internships, and events outside the classroom.
