MSU Home :: Maintenance Request

Though we strive to maintain our residence halls in perfect working order, from time to time there will be a need to submit a maintenance request for repairs. Issues that are of an emergency nature such as significant damage, flooding, appliance malfunction, etc. should be notified to the Resident Advisor or professional staff in your area or on-call. Issues that are non-emergency in nature such as a "Lo Battery" indicator on your thermostat, a dripping faucet, or a slowly draining tub or shower can be placed on the online work order request system.

To Place a Maintenance Request (Non-Information Technology/Phone/Cable Related)

  1. Visit the MyMoreheadState student portal
  2. Choose "Productivity" button
  3. On right side of page under services, select "Facility Work Orders (schooldude)"
  4. Enter your MSU email (If you receive a message that your email cannot be found, you may have to enter your last name)
  5. Fill out all required information marked with a red box and checkmark
    1. Location = building you are submitting a work order for
    2. Area = Physical location in building (i.e. lobby, 1st floor, etc.)
    3. Area/Room Number = Specific location (i.e. office, laundry room, 107)
    4. Click on icon next to the nature of the issue (i.e. air not working would be classified as "Heating/Ventilation/Air Conditioning")
    5. Please describe your problem or request = specific information about the issue (i.e. "Air conditioner is not blowing cold air when the unit is turned on")
    6. Password = "msu" in lowercase letters
    7. Select "Submit"

To Place a Maintenance Request for an Information Technology Issue (Phone/Cable/Internet)

  1. If you are having issues with cable/internet/phone or things associated with them (wall jacks, etc.) you will need to email the IT help desk for support
  2. From your Morehead State email address, please send a message to ITHelpdesk@moreheadstate.edu with the subject of "Helpdesk Request"
  3. In your email please be as specific as possible about what your particular needs are. (i.e. internet not working in room 451 of Thompson Hall, cable wall jack coming out of wall in Fields 155, etc.)
  4. Include your University ID number in the email
  5. The Office of Information Technology will send a confirmation email and alert you of the work order number and any additional information they may need to address your concerns.

 

If at any time you are unsure of how to place a work order, whether or not a work order should be placed, or how you should go about getting a concern addressed, please contact your Resident Advisor, Student Director, or Student Life Coordinator.
