Non-Resident Tuition Scholarship for Out-of-State Students
Recipients of the Non-Resident Tuition Scholarship pay only 1.2 times the in-state tuition rate instead of the out-of-state rate.

Application Procedure

To be eligible for a scholarship, you must first apply to Morehead State University by completing the Admission and Scholarship Application (www.moreheadstate.edu/apply). In addition to the application, you need to send your 7-semester high school transcript and ACT or SAT scores to Enrollment Services, 100 Admission Center, Morehead, KY 40351.

Requirements

Be unconditionally admitted to MSU and meet ONE of the following requirements:

1. Be an entering freshman with a minimum Admission Index of 450 or higher; and a minimum ACT composite score of 18 or higher (or SAT combined score of 860 or higher); and live in a geographic area (see list of counties) designated by MSU for special tuition rates (Note: A 2.5 GPA and an 18 ACT would equal an Admission Index of 430, which would not meet the minimum Admission Index requirement of 450. See the section on calculating an Admission Index and the Scholarship Eligibility Grid for more information.); or

2. Be an entering freshmen and have a minimum ACT composite score of 21 or higher or SAT combined score (verbal + math) of 980 or higher, regardless of place of residence; or

3. Be the child or grandchild or spouse of an active MSU alumnus with a minimum Admission Index of 450 or higher and a minimum ACT composite score of 18 or higher (or SAT combined score of 860 or higher) (Note: An active alumnus is defined as someone who makes annual gifts to the MSU Foundation, Inc.); or

4. Be a transfer student with less than 24 total semester hours with a minimum Admission Index of 450 or higher; and a minimum ACT composite score of 18 or higher or SAT combined score of 860 or higher; and live in a geographic area (see list of counties) designated by MSU for special tuition rates (Note: A 2.5 GPA and an 18 ACT would equal an Admission Index of 430, which would not meet the minimum Admission Index requirement of 450. See the section in this brochure on calculating an Admission Index and the Scholarship Eligibility Grid for more information.); or

5. Be a transfer student with less than 24 semester hours and have a minimum ACT composite score of 21 or higher or SAT combined score of 980 or higher, regardless of place of residence; or

6. Be a transfer student with a cumulative college GPA of 3.0 on at least 24 semester hours; or

- AND -

Submit a completed application packet, including application form, transcript and test scores, by the March 15 priority deadline.  

Additional Information

Criteria for renewal: Maintain satisfactory academic progress toward graduation, continuous full-time (at least 12 hours) enrollment for fall and spring semesters with MSU, and satisfy the University’s mandatory housing policy.  

This scholarship cannot be combined with another MSU scholarship covering the cost of tuition; Transfer Scholarship; KCTCS Transfer Scholarship; full athletic aid or tuition waiver (MSU or state mandated).  If the student is awarded another MSU scholarship covering the cost of tuition, or receives a tuition waiver (MSU or state mandated) their tuition charges will be covered by that award, making them ineligible for this scholarship.

Please note that internet classes are charged at a reduced tuition rate, therefore this scholarship cannot be awarded for the cost of internet classes.
