About Ian

Hello – my name is Ian Grimes and I’m a new Morehead State Admission Counselor! I am a 2013 Boone County High School grad, and a recent Morehead State alum. Fun fact about me - I was a cheerleader here at MSU, and now serve as the assistant cheer coach for both squads. I’m so thankful to have the privilege of working in the Northern Kentucky territory because I grew up in this area and it always holds a special place to my heart. Now, I get to share why Morehead State can be your home away from home. While I may be new, please know I am here to help, and am very excited to begin working with you. Let’s SOAR future Eagles!

What MSU Means to Me

MSU means Home. I met the most amazing people here and always find my way to planning trips to see them. You meet your forever friends and family here!

Favorite MSU Tradition

Homecoming! Seeing all the past alumni and your former classmates/teammates is one great and memorable weekend.

Favorite Building on Campus

The AAC (Academic-Athletic Center) – that’s where the Cheerleading team practices and it is the most decorated cheerleading room in the world!

Favorite Thing to do in the Area

Hike up to Lockegee or go to Cave Run Lake

Favorite Downtown Restaurant

Hibachi Express! It is connected to the gas station by McDonald’s, and the best Hibachi I think I have ever had! The Chicken Hibachi and Spicy California roll is amazing.

Favorite La Finca Order

Pollo Bandido

Favorite Thing to Do Downtown

Walk around and take in how beautiful this city is!

Advice for Seniors

Do the unexpected! I am from a big city and did not think I would enjoy a small town. I thought I wanted to go to school with all of my high school friends. I broadened my horizons, and I added more family, friends, and memories that will last me a lifetime. You can do that too!

Advice to Students Selecting a College
