In-State Scholarships

  • College credit hours completed prior to high school graduation, including Eagle Scholars courses, do not affect scholarship eligibility.
  • With the exception of the Alumni and Valedictorian Scholarships, students may only receive one academic achievement scholarship.
  • Effective for new students in the 2021-2022 school year.
 

Alumni Scholarship

The MSU Alumni Scholarship offers $1,000 per year to any new incoming freshman who is a child, grandchild or spouse of an active MSU alumnus. Applicants must have a composite ACT score of 18 or higher and an admission index of 500. Recipients of the award are required to live on campus for a minimum of four semesters. Black Achiever Scholarship

This scholarship offers full tuition to new incoming freshman who are Kentucky residents and have completed the Black Achievers Program in Lexington and Louisville, Kentucky. Applicants must have a composite ACT score of 18 or higher and an admission index of 500. Recipients of the award are required to live on campus for a minimum of four semesters. To apply, submit a completed admissions application packet – including admission application form, transcripts and test scores, along with a completed Diversity Scholar Application Packet – by Dec. 1.
 

Dean's Scholar Award

The Dean's Scholar Award offers $4,000 per year to new incoming freshman who are Kentucky residents. Applicants must have at least a 3.25 unweighted high school GPA, a composite ACT score of 21 or higher and an admission index of 535 or higher. Recipients of the award are required to live on campus for a minimum of four semesters. If approved to commute or to live off campus, the scholarship will be reduced by 50%. Commonwealth Scholarship

The Commonwealth Scholarship offers $9,000 per year to new incoming freshman who are Kentucky residents. Applicants must have at least a 3.75 unweighted high school GPA and a composite ACT score of 28 or higher. To apply, submit a completed admission application packet – including admission application form, transcripts and test scores – by March 15.
 

Diversity Opportunity Scholarship

This scholarship offers full tuition to new incoming freshman who are Kentucky residents and have an ethnic background of one of the following: Hispanic/Latino, African-American, American Indian or Alaskan native, Asian, or Native Hawaiian or other Pacific Islander. Applicants must have a composite ACT score of 18 or higher and an admission index of 500.  Recipients of the award are required to live on campus for a minimum of four semesters. To apply, submit a completed admissions application packet – including admission application form, transcripts and test scores, along with a completed Diversity Scholarship Application Packet – by Dec. 1.


Eagle Assurance Scholarship

This is a financial need-based scholarship for students who meet these criteria: 
  • 2021 graduates of any Kentucky high school. 
  • Are Pell Grant eligible (per the FAFSA). 
  • Enrolling as first-time, full-time student. 
  • Have a minimum high school GPA of 2.8 (4.0 scale). 
  • Live in campus housing (see www.moreheadstate.edu/housing for details and residency policy). 
The Eagle Assurance Scholarship is renewable if students maintain Pell Grant and KEES eligibility, full-time student status, and live on campus. Visit www.moreheadstate.edu/assurance. To apply, complete the Undergraduate Admission & Scholarship Application.
 

Governor's Scholar Award/Governor's School of the Arts Award

These awards offer $8,000 per year to new incoming freshman who are alumni of either the Governor's Scholars Program (GSP) or the Governor's School for the Arts (GSA). Recipients of the award are required to live on campus for a minimum of four semesters. Applicants must have at least a 3.50 unweighted high school GPA and a composite ACT score of 25 or higher. Honors Scholarship

Full tuition, on-campus housing allowance (up to the cost of the Honors Hall), $1,000 book credit at the University Store, a designated meal plan, and $1,500 one-time education abroad allowance (renewable). Selection is based on academic achievement, including GPA, test scores, challenging coursework, leadership and service experiences, awards and recognitions, essay, sample of work and interview. To apply, submit a completed Honors Application Packet, admission application form, transcripts and test scores by Dec. 1.
 

Kentucky Scholars Award

The Kentucky Scholars Award offers $7,000 per year to new incoming freshman who are Kentucky residents. Applicants must have at least a 3.25 unweighted high school GPA,  a composite ACT score of 25 or higher and an admission index of 600 or higher. Recipients of the award are required to live on campus for a minimum of four semesters. If approved to commute or to live off campus, the scholarship will be reduced by 30%. Roger's Scholar - Full Tuition

This scholarship offers full tuition to new incoming freshman who are Kentucky residents and alumni of the Roger's Scholar Program. Applicants must have at least a 3.5 unweighted high school GPA and a composite ACT score of 20 or higher. Recipients of the award are required to live on campus for a minimum of four semesters. To apply, submit a completed admissions application packet – including admission application form, transcripts and test scores – by March 15.
 

Roger's Scholar - Full Tuition & Housing

This scholarship offers full tuition and housing at $4,800 per year to new incoming freshman who are Kentucky residents and alumni of the Roger's Scholar Program. Applicants must have at least a 3.75 unweighted high school GPA and a composite ACT score of 28 or higher. Recipients of the award are required to live on campus for a minimum of four semesters. To apply, submit a completed admissions application packet – including admission application form, transcripts and test scores – by March 15.  

Valedictorian Scholarship

This scholarship offers $1,000 (one-time amount) to any new incoming freshman who is a Kentucky resident and valedictorian of their graduating class. To apply, submit a completed admissions application packet – including admission application form, transcripts and test scores – by March 15.
