Music Degree Offerings

As an accredited institutional member of the National Association of Schools of Music (NASM), Morehead State University adheres to and complies with the standards of the association.
 
Finding the degree that’s right for you is an important step for any incoming student, whether an incoming freshman, transfer student, or graduate student. Much will depend on your interests, career aspirations, and the overall quality of your music admission audition. Our exceptional music faculty have counseled hundreds of students and helped them decide on the degree program that is best suited for them. These dedicated faculty members remain with you throughout the degree and continue to use their vast expertise to help you hone your skills while also advising you as you progress toward graduation. UNDERGRADUATE DEGREE PROGRAMS

MSU offers three bachelor's degree programs and a minor in music.

GRADUATE DEGREE PROGRAMS

At Morehead State, we offer the Master of Music (MM) degree with Concentrations in music education (including Kodály) and performance. The music education concentration may be completed entirely online. In the performance concentration, study is centered around applied voice, instrumental or choral conducting, brasswinds, woodwinds, percussion, piano, guitar, or bass. The Kodály Institute of Kentucky

Kodály levels I, II and III programs of music study can be taken for graduate work toward a master’s program or for professional development. The programs address both national and state music standards, including Kentucky Content Standards. Kodály involves an integration of ideas, techniques and approaches to develop music training programs. It is a hands-on, experience-based approach to teaching music and recognized as the most comprehensive and advanced training for music professionals.
