Green Buildings

Several buildings across campus have been equipped with green technology.

ADUC Expansion

The expansion to ADUC includes more energy-efficient dining, offices, conference spaces and meeting rooms.

The Rock & Parking Garage

This dining hall on the east side of campus was designed with features that reduce waste and increase energy-efficiency while providing health food options to students. The adjacent parking garage reduces parking congestion, and pavement and storm water runoff on campus.

Andrews Hall

Completed in 2016, this residence hall provides suite-style rooms and student study/meeting areas with many sustainable features in its design to help increase energy-efficiency and reduce waste.

Recreation & Wellness Center

The Rec Center was awarded LEED GOLD in July 2011, and was the first LEED-certified recreation center in Kentucky and the first LEED building on MSU's campus. Features include geothermal heating and cooling systems, a geothermal well to heat the swimming pool, natural day lighting, motion sensor controls, water catchment systems, and CO2 sensors to determine how much fresh air to bring into the building.

Center of Health Education and Research (CHER) & Space Science Building

Both buildings are built to LEED standards.

Campus Master Plan

MSU finalized its Campus Master Plan in 2014, including more green space and pedestrian and bike-friendly areas. The plan incorporates permeable pavers and rain garden filtration zones in the Eagle Way Pedestrian Walk. The plan also includes walking trails along Triplett Creek and enhanced stream drainage in the area.
