Information for Employees

Facilities Management Cleaning & Disinfection

  • Classrooms and common spaces are cleaned every weekday. As an extra precautionary measure, faculty and students are encouraged to use disinfecting wipes on personal use areas in classrooms.
  • Offices are not cleaned and disinfected on a routine basis by Facilities Management. Office occupants are encouraged to frequently use disinfecting wipes and other cleaning products as provided by Facilities Management to clean and disinfect their personal offices and common spaces within their office suites.

Classroom Safety

  • Wearing a mask and social distancing remain effective at mitigating the spread of the COVID-19 virus.
  • Masks are optional in most campus locations, including classrooms and labs. Each student and employee may make their own individual decision as to whether they wear a mask or not (masks are still required in the MSU Counseling & Health Services in Allie Young Hall). Faculty and staff may request that students and other employees visiting their personal office be required to wear a mask while meeting in their office.

Employee COVID-19 Notification Process

  • Vice Presidents/President Direct Reports (VP/PDR) lead the Employee COVID-19 Healthy at Work response.
  • If an employee receives notification that they have tested positive for COVID-19, or if they are notified that they should self-isolate or self-quarantine, then the employee should contact their supervisor and VP/PDR immediately.
  • Supervisors who learn that an employee has been notified that they have tested positive for COVID-19 will send the employee home and contact their VP/PDR immediately. If a supervisor learns that an employee is a close contact exposure to COVID-19, and the employee is not fully vaccinated, then the supervisor should contact their VP/PDR for further instructions.
