Convergent Media (BA)

The Bachelor of Arts (BA) in Convergent Media combines the traditional aspects of journalism, broadcasting and audio/video production and web design with innovative technology to give you the skills you need to be a successful media professional. Journalistic writing and production in the classroom is combined with hands-on experience in the professional world of digital media to help you be fully prepared to enter the job market. You will experience unparalleled opportunities through exposure to our two multi-camera television studios, recording studio, simulated radio stations, audio and video post-production editing facilities, and numerous digital field gear and multimedia newsrooms.

You will complete a minimum of three hours of practicum experience (hands-on learning in the workplace) at three different levels, as well as an internship. Many students complete their practicums in student-managed media operations on campus including:
You must successfully complete 24-credit hours of area requirements and 24-credit hours of approved departmental electives.

Students who successfully complete 48-credit hours in the major, 36-credit hours of general education courses, and 36-credit hours of general electives will have the 120-credit hours required for graduation.
