Photography Minor

Whether it's your dream to shoot pictures as a photojournalist, pursue a career in commercial photography or specialize in fine arts photography, the photography minor at Morehead State will equip you with the principles and techniques needed to create compelling visual images, effectively communicate ideas and tell stories.

You will have opportunities to work with a variety of media and approaches and will develop a strong background in creative image making, photographic history and aesthetics.

  • ART 109 - Digital foundations
  • CVM 205 - Introduction to Photojournalism
  • ART 373 - Basic Black & White Photography
  • ART 375 - Introduction to Digital Photography
  • Art 474 - Photo Studio (prerequisite ART 373)

Choose six credit hours (two courses) from:
  • CVM 140 - Video Field Production 
  • CVM 305 - Documentary Photography (prerequisite CVM 205 or consent of instructor)
  • ART 309 - Computer Art
  • ART 473 - 35mm Photography (prerequisite ART 373)
  • ART 475 - Large Format Photography (prerequisite ART 473)

This minor is an interdisciplinary program offered through MSU's Department of Communication, Media and Languages and the Department of Art and Design.
