Student Organizations

Members of our organizations frequently attend conferences, complete service and fundraising projects and visit museums, design firms and galleries in cities such as Boston, Chicago, Cincinnati, Denver, Lexington, Louisville, New York, Pittsburgh and Washington, D.C.

American Institute of Graphic Arts (AIGA)

Students in this national graphic design club meet twice monthly. Each year the group raises money to pay for educational trips and conferences in Lexington, Louisville and Cincinnati. The group also travels to New York each spring and attends the AIGA National conference every two years. These trips provide valuable networking opportunities between students and design firms.

The AIGA membership fee is $50. Students may register and pay their fees on the AIGA website. MSU is a part of the Ohio/Cincinnati chapter.

For more information, contact the faculty club advisor.

Ceramics Guild

The ceramics guild meets twice monthly. Students are frequently provided opportunities to set up booths to sell their work. Each year the organization participates in the Empty Bowls project to benefit area sites providing food to those in need. The organization also invites guest speakers and ceramic artists from all over to speak with students about their work. Follow the Guild on Facebook.

National Art Education Association

The MSU Art Education club is a student chapter of the National Art Education Association (NAEA) and the Kentucky Art Education Association (KyAEA). The club holds evening meetings throughout the academic year. Students participate in fundraising events, community outreach projects and travel to state and national conferences. Recent field trips include travel to New York, San Diego and New Orleans.

Photography Club

Members meet twice monthly and will fundraise to go on at least one trip per semester. Most recently, photography club members have traveled to art galleries in Cincinnati and members also attended a photography conference in New Orleans. Membership dues are $25. Follow the club on Facebook.

For more information, contact faculty club advisor Robyn Moore.

MSU's TAC offers a selling and exhibition platform to student artists and provides travel opportunities for students to gain hands-on experience in the art world. The club organizes a series of art sales throughout each semester in order to provide students with multiple platforms to sell their work.
