Adult and higher education now houses the English as a Second Language (ESL) Endorsement. These courses can also be used as an area of specialization in the Master of Arts in Adult and Higher Education program.

The ESL Endorsement is an online program that provides comprehensive training for teachers to instruct students whose first language is not English. The program consists of 12 credit hours presented as four courses with embedded field experiences. You will learn how to describe the English language system (phonology, morphology, syntax, semantics and pragmatics) and apply knowledge for instructional purposes. Additionally, you will learn how to adapt instruction to English language learners' academic needs and linguistic backgrounds.

This program is an online endorsement. The courses may additionally be used as an area of specialization in the adult and higher education master's program.
