Undergraduate
Middle Grades Education (5-9): Students seeking 5-9 certification must select two academic components from language arts, science, social studies and mathematics, or students may choose coursework for a single component in science.
Special Education and Middle Grades (5-9) Area, Learning and Behavior Disorders: Students seeking 5-9 and LBD certification for special education select only one academic component excluding the full science component (language arts, social studies or mathematics).
Special Education and Middle Grades (5-9) Area, Moderate and Severe Disabilities: Students seeking 5-9 and MSD certification for special education select only one academic component excluding the full science component (language arts, social studies or mathematics).
Secondary Education (8-12): Students may specialize in biological science, business, chemistry, Earth systems science, English, geology, mathematics, physics, or social studies. Other education content areas for grades 5-12 include agriculture, business and information technology and industrial education. Content areas for grades P-12 include Spanish, art, theatre and music.
Graduate Degree Programs
- Middle Grades 5-9 Master of Arts in Teaching (MAT): This program will lead to certification in the middle grades with a concentration in English, mathematics, science or social studies
- Secondary Master of Arts in Teaching (MAT): This program is designed for individuals who have earned an undergraduate degree in biology, business, chemistry, earth science, English, French, health, math, physical education, physics, social studies, Spanish or a closely related field.
