Profile

Dr. Adams’ area of emphasis is contemporary literature, particularly as that literature reorients modernism, intersects with adaptation studies, or touches on the gothic. She has published a number of articles in scholarly venues from "Callaloo" to "Contemporary Literature."

While her literary research has always informed her teaching, her interactions with students, and the service completed in the name of “student success,” have redirected her scholarly interests from professional debates regarding literary movements to public discourse on the state of higher education. She is particularly interested in the rhetoric of “investment” and the ways in which current articulations of private gain overwhelm conceptions of postsecondary education as a “public good.”
