Kim Clevenger
Degrees, Licensures and Certifications: Doctorate of Education with a specialization in Teacher Leadership from Walden University; Master of Science in Nursing from Bellarmine University; Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and Minor in Corrections from Morehead State University; Associate Degree in Nursing from Morehead State University.
Research Interests: Student retention, online learning, cultural competency, and the use of service learning in the educational arena.
Bio
Dr. Kim Clevenger has a distinguished background in nursing. She began her career in long-term care as an MDS Coordinator before advancing to the role of Director of Nursing for a nursing and rehabilitation center. Her career later transitioned to an area medical center, where she gained diverse experience in medical-surgical units and in-home health. With over 17 years of clinical expertise, Dr. Clevenger brings knowledge in long-term care, medical-surgical nursing, and community health into the classroom.
In addition to her clinical background, Dr. Clevenger is an accomplished nursing education professional. She is an experienced grant writer, curriculum developer, and freelance Subject Matter Expert (SME) for prominent nursing textbook publishers. As an SME, she authors new content, revises and reviews existing materials, and assists in the development of instructional design storyboards. Her contributions to nursing education also include item writing and the creation of innovative nursing curriculum resources.
Dr. Clevenger utilizes a blended situational/servant leadership approach to foster a supportive and collaborative environment within her leadership role in the Department of Nursing. She is deeply committed to mentoring faculty, helping them grow professionally, and achieving their full potential. Her leadership approach is characterized by empowering others, fostering teamwork, and ensuring positive outcomes for faculty and students. By fostering a culture of excellence, collaboration, and student-centered learning, graduates will be prepared to meet the challenges of nursing practice and be innovative, compassionate and effective leaders in their workplaces who positively impact the communities they serve. Dr. Clevenger is dedicated to transforming nursing education and health care through the next generation of MSU Department of Nursing graduates.
