Profile

Dr. Jon Musgrave received a Ph.D. in Human Resource Development with a specialization in Organizational Development and Change from The University of Texas at Tyler, an M.S. in Human Resources from Indiana State University, and a B.S. in Adult and Career Education from Indiana State University. His doctoral research and dissertation focused on integrating strategic management best practices in organizations resistant to change. His research focuses on leadership, strategic human resource management and organizational behavior.

About teaching, dr. Musgrave says, “My primary objectives are to develop my students' critical thinking, problem-solving, and communication skills. I enjoy watching the growth of my students and feel blessed to play a small role in their journey. My biggest reward is when a former student reaches out to thank me for playing a part in their development".

Before arriving at Morehead State University, Musgrave taught at Indiana State University and considers himself to be a scholar-practitioner. He worked as a career firefighter and a small business owner for over two decades. During his fire service career, he managed teams ranging in size from four to over one hundred members. His small business focused on acquiring and performing local, state, and federal contracts. He has also served as a professional development consultant for the International Ironworkers and as a course developer for Northcentral University.

Musgrave is a passionate college football fan, a beekeeper, and enjoys spending time with his wife, Jill, and their two children.
