Drawing upon her diverse background of experience in opera and the concert stage, soprano Roma Prindle brings vitality and fidelity to the art of vocal performance, whatever the genre. In all of her singing, she endeavors to coordinate solid vocal technique, and integrity in music style, with personal, intimate communication of the material. 

Roma Prindle has performed with several American opera companies, including the Minnesota Opera, Connecticut Opera, Goodspeed Opera, Connecticut Concert Opera, Opera Roanoke and Connecticut Opera Express. She was a Midwest Regional Finalist in the Metropolitan Opera National Council Auditions. Prindle created the title role in the world premiere performance of Victoria Fullam's Mermaid, based on the classic tale by Hans Christian Andersen, with the University of Minnesota Opera. 

An ardent and active proponent of the art song, Prindle is a seasoned concert and recital artist. Through various concert tours in thirty states, Austria, as well as in Germany, Italy, France, England, Wales, Ireland, Sweden, Australia, and Taiwan, she has devoted a major part of her career to the classical song repertoire. No stage is too small and every audience is treated with dignity when she shares with them the world's greatest music and literature. 

A native of Kentucky, Prindle received the Bachelor of Arts degree in Applied Music from Transylvania University, Lexington, Ky. She also holds the Master of Music and Doctor of Musical Arts degrees in Vocal Performance from the Hartt School of Music, Hartford, Ct., where she was a student of tenor Jerome Pruett. Additional studies include a private voice study in Salzburg, Austria with American soprano Cornelia Prestel, and in Minneapolis, Mn. with tenor Clifton Ware and stage director Vern Sutton. She has also studied with former Metropolitan Opera singers Brenda Lewis, David Rae Smith and Adelaide Bishop, and opera coaches John Zei and Bruno Rigacci.

Back in 1983, Roma Prindle was accepted at the International Art Song Festival at the University of Wisconsin, Milwaukee where she studied with collaborative pianist and vocal coach, Dalton Baldwin and internationally acclaimed soprano, Elly Ameling. In 2015 she had the opportunity to work with Dalton Baldwin again at the Académie Internationale d’Eté de Nice at the Conservatoire de Nice, France. Mr. Baldwin was pleased to hear that the voice he remembered was still buoyant and healthy, and was particularly impressed with her performance of Debussy’s C’est l’extase langoureuse. “Debussy is in your DNA,” he said.

Prindle has presented vocal masterclasses throughout the United States, Taiwan, and Europe. She has also been a stage director for the Dorian Opera and many university opera theatres. Her voice students are frequent winners of vocal competitions and have been accepted for study at the Eastman School of Music, the Hartt School of Music and the University of Kentucky. Upon graduation, her university students have been accepted into such prestigious graduate schools as Indiana University, Florida State University, Northwestern University, Boston Conservatory, and Rice University and some have received contracts from Virginia Opera, Connecticut Opera, Florida Repertory Theatre, and Chicago Lyric Opera. 

Roma Prindle is a former Mid-South Region Governor for the National Association of Teachers of Singing. She is thrilled to be back in Kentucky, doing what she loves to do best, singing and working with students from the mountain region and helping them to develop their creative talents as artists and citizens.
