Sherry Porter

Bio

My name is Sherry Porter and I am a mental health counselor with the counseling center. I joined MSU in July 2019 and practice as a licensed psychological practitioner. I earned my Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology and Master of Science degree in Clinical Psychology from Morehead State. Before joining MSU, I worked in community mental health and have experience working with diverse populations and a wide range of clinical issues. I also worked as a grief counselor for a hospice organization.

My goal as a person-centered therapist is to provide a safe and non-judgmental environment for my clients. I am passionate about working with college students and one of my professional interests includes working with LGBTQ+ individuals.

I am originally from Indianapolis, Indiana but now live in Olive Hill with my husband and son. In my free time, I enjoy reading, listening to music, video games, and spending time with my family and adorable black cat, Jynx.
