Profile
Dr. Sherif Rashad is a full professor of computer science and the coordinator of the computer science program at Morehead State University. He received his Ph.D. in Computer Science and Engineering from the University of Louisville and his B.S. (with honors) and M.S. degrees in Electrical Engineering from Zagazig University, Egypt. He is the inaugural recipient of Rebecca L. and Henry P. Conn Endowed Fellowship from Speed School of Engineering, University of Louisville. He worked as an associate professor at Florida Polytechnic University and the University of Southern Indiana. His leadership experience includes serving as an academic program coordinator for the computer engineering program and as a member of the Provost's Council of Coordinators at Florida Polytechnic University. Rashad has a strong experience in curriculum development, program accreditation and developing new programs. He is currently the coordinator of the computer science program, and he served as the chair of the Computer Science Program Committee at Morehead State University from 2009 to 2015. He led the effort to introduce new tracks in the computer science program and to introduce several new courses. Rashad's research interests include machine learning, mobile security, mobile computing, data science and cybersecurity. He served as a member of the editorial board of several international journals and as a member of the technical program committee of several international and national conferences. He is the recipient of the 2020 Dean's Citation for Excellence in Teaching Award. He is a three-time recipient of the Outstanding Research Award (2012, 2014 and 2015) and the 2009 recipient of the Outstanding Teaching Award from the Department of Mathematics and Computer Science at Morehead State University. He is a 2019 Fellow of the Bluegrass Higher Education Consortium Academic Leadership Academy and currently serves as the campus liaison. He is a senior member of IEEE and a professional member of ACM.
