Dr. Smith-Stephens is a Visiting Assistant Professor of Nursing. She previously served as director of Counseling & Health Services at Morehead State University where she has served four years in both health care provider and administrative roles. Smith-Stephens currently practices as a family nurse practitioner at Fayette Regional Detention Center in Lexington, KY and Grayson Health Park, Grayson, KY.
Dr. Smith-Stephens has been a practicing clinician for both primary and acute care. Her areas of practice expertise include primary care and internal medicine, college health, and women’s health. She also practiced as a critical care nurse prior to licensure as a Family Nurse Practitioner. She received a Doctor of Nursing Practice from the University of Kentucky and maintains national board certification as a Family Nurse Practitioner as well as a Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner.
