Profile

Karen Taylor holds an M.A. and Ph.D. in Romance Languages from the University of Georgia, and taught French and Women’s studies at the university level before coming to Morehead State in 2000. A native of England, she received her B.A at the University of Liverpool, spent a year teaching middle and high-school English in the north of France, and has participated in the KIIS study abroad programs in France.

Her research interest is in the French Middle Ages, and focuses on feminist interpretations of the literature and culture of that period. She has several publications in her field, including her book “Gender Transgressions: Crossing the Normative Barrier in Medieval French Literature” (Garland Press).

At Morehead State, she teaches French at all levels, as well as classes in English on Medieval Culture and several courses in the Honors Program. She received the Distinguished Teacher Award at MSU in 2016, and is as happy as a clam in the classroom, where she looks forward to being for many more years.
