Andrea Wells

About Me

Andrea Wells is an Instructor of Education at Morehead State University, where she teaches foundational courses in teacher preparation. She is particularly interested in the philosophy of education and the formative purpose of schooling. Her work explores the history of education, the theories and aims of classical and progressive education, moral development, and the need for broad, enabling knowledge.

Her academic interests include character education, schema theory, and the role of a content-rich curriculum in fostering literacy and comprehension. She deeply loves history and believes it should serve as a central organizing strand in education, providing students with the background knowledge necessary to understand the world and engage meaningfully with great works of literature and ideas. In both her teaching and scholarship, Ms. Wells seeks to prepare excellent teachers who intentionally cultivate wisdom and virtue in their own lives and, later, in the lives of their students.
