Bio
Dr. Lisa Wallace is a Morehead State University Bachelor of Science in Nursing alumni. She has over 33 years of experience as a Registered Nurse. She completed her Master of Science in Nursing at Walden University, with a leadership/management focus and her Doctor of Nursing Practice at Eastern Kentucky University in 2020. She maintains two national certifications: Inpatient Obstetrics and Nurse Executive Basic. She has over 25 years of leadership experience serving inpatient hospital roles such as house coordinator, charge nurse, nurse manager, and director. Dr. Wallace also served as an inpatient hospital interim staff nursing educator and house coordinator.
Dr. Wallace's expertise encompasses obstetrics, neonates, children, leadership and management. She worked as an MSU obstetrics clinical adjunct instructor prior to assuming her full-time nursing instructor position in January 2017. Wallace was promoted and achieved tenure, and she is now serving as an Associate Professor of Nursing.
Dr. Wallace is a TeamSTEPPS Master Trainer, a Basic Life Support, Advanced Cardiac Life Support, Advanced Life Support in Obstetrics, and Neonatal Resuscitation Program instructor. She served for over six years as the Kentucky Organization of Nurse Leaders Bluegrass District Leader and remains a member today. She serves as the Kentucky Nurses Association Northeastern Chapter Leader and is President-Elect on the Board of Directors for the Kentucky League for Nurse Educators. Other professional organizational memberships include Sigma Theta Tau, the American Nurses Association/Kentucky Nurses Association, and the Association of Women's Health, Obstetric, and Neonatal Nurses.
Special projects led or organized by Dr. Wallace include the Annual Nursing Competency Fair at St. Claire Regional Medical Center and the Annual Community Baby Shower in Morehead. Previously, she received a March of Dimes grant to reduce preterm labor/birth. Since Spring 2021, Dr. Wallace has received other funded grants of $13,240.16 for funding and support of student professionalism, nursing lab equipment, and improving healthcare outcomes for children in the community. In addition, Dr. Wallace has presented and shared posters at various regional, state, and international conferences. She welcomes and enjoys public speaking and professional networking.
Publications
- Dr. Wallace has 11 publications, including co-author in December 2024, “Management of Neonatal Pain Associated with Circumcision,” in the "Critical Care Nursing Clinic Journal." She has a pending publication titled “Nurses Advocating for School-Age Child Health Promotion” in the "Journal of School Nursing."
- She authored “Advocating for School Nurses” in the "Kentucky Nurse" and “Pediatric Malignant Hyperthermia” case study in the "American Nurse."
- On January 10, 2023, she published “School-Age Child with Flu-Like Symptoms- Now What?” in the "Archives of Epidemiology and Public Health Research, Vol 2(1), 144-147."
- On January 23, 2023, Dr. Wallace authored three chapters in the "Foundations of Maternal-Newborn" and "Women’s Health Nursing, 8th edition by Elsevier" as follows: “Chapter 20: Normal Newborn; Chapter 21: Assessment of the Normal Newborn; and Chapter 22: Care of the Normal Newborn.'
- On April 8, 2022, she published “Pediatric Hypoglycemia” in the "American Nurse, volume 17, issue 4."
- Other works include May 15, 2021, “Covid-19 Vaccination of Children: What Will You Do?” in the 'Global Journal of Medical Research, volume 21, issue K7' and the "Nursing and Healthcare International Journal, volume 5, issue 4."
- In 2020, Wallace’s Doctor of Nursing Practice Capstone Project titled “The Impact of Nursing Staff Responsiveness on Patient Satisfaction: A Pilot Project” was published on "Encompass through Eastern Kentucky University."
- She also published “Doctoral of Nursing Practice Use of Technology to Save Lives” in December 2018 in "Outcomes, volume 4, issue 12."
