Noel Weaver

Bio

Noel Weaver holds a BME and MMed from Morehead State University and completed coursework for the Ph.D. program in Choral Conducting (ABD) at Texas Tech University. Prior to coming to Morehead State University, Mr. Weaver served as Director of Choral Activities and Chair of the Music Department at Ballard High School in Kentucky for nearly three decades. Weaver also served as choral director in public schools in Zanesville, and Rowan County, Kentucky, and as director of choral activities at Southern Arkansas University. As a choral clinician, Weaver has conducted clinics and honor choirs in 22 states in the U.S.

As a soloist, Weaver has appeared with many regional orchestras, including:

• Santa Fe, NM
• Lubbock Symphony Orchestra, Lubbock, TX
• Chautauqua Symphony, Chautauqua, NY
• Louisville Orchestra.

He has been an active member of the Kentucky Chapter of The American Choral Directors Association/ACDA, the Kentucky Music Educators Association, and NAfME throughout his career. He has served in many roles at both the district and state levels. Most recently, Weaver served as KMEA State Choral Chair.

Weaver was named a Distinguished Educator by the United States Commission on Presidential Scholars; KMEA State High School Teacher of the Year in 2013; and, along with his wife Melissa, was the 2013 recipient of the Robert K. Baar Choral Excellence Award from the American Choral Directors Association. Weaver is a former “Teacher of the Year” for the Rowan County Public Schools, having founded the current choral program for the Rowan County School District. Weaver has served churches in Kentucky, Ohio, Texas and Arkansas in more than 48 years of music ministry.

They are the parents of five children and six grandchildren: Luke, Jacob, Michael, Winn, Keely, and Keegan.
