Research Interests: Dr. White uses changes in measures of motivation (activity, food intake, affective condition) to characterize the states (activation, withdrawal, recovery) that occur during the circadian interval following intermittent administration of moderate doses of amphetamine and related compounds. He uses behavioral-pharmacological and gene-expression approaches to investigate the factors involved in the initiation and expression of amphetamine-induced acute withdrawal and to understand how different symptoms of acute withdrawal are mechanistically related.

Bio

Dr. Wesley White received a bachelor's degree in psychology from Western Michigan University and a Ph.D. in psychology from Indiana University. He did post-doctoral work at Johns Hopkins University and the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Zurich. He does research in the area of motivation. He has taught First Year Seminar, Introduction to Psychology, Industrial/ Organizational Psychology, Psychology of Motivation, Psychology of Learning and Systems and Theories of Psychology (Capstone).
