“Getting Started with Etsy” to be offered in Morehead

Morehead State University’s Small Business Development Center in partnership with the Mountain Association for Community Economic Development (MACED), Kentucky Arts Council, and the Innovation Launchpad is sponsoring a “Getting Started with Etsy” workshop for artists and craftspeople who are interested in selling through the global marketplace’s online sales platform.

The workshop provides people interested in starting an Etsy shop, who desire more education than what they can find online, an opportunity to learn some of the basic skills necessary to be successful on Etsy in a supportive community atmosphere.

This interactive, 2-hour workshop covers creating a shop name, understanding how to get items found by potential buyers in a search, and what you can do to create buyer confidence and make that first sale. Participants will start their Etsy shop and learn the skills necessary to be successful as they continue to grow.

Jennifer A. Reis, coordinator and instructor of MSU’s Arts Entrepreneurship Program and Etsy shop owner since 2010, will teach the workshop.

The workshop will be 6-8:30 p.m. Tuesday, March 14 at the Innovation Launchpad, 149 East Main Street, Morehead. The workshop is free for participants. Participants are encouraged to bring their work with them, so Reis can provide one-on-one coaching on pricing, packaging, marketing, for opportunities regardless of context. Participants are also encouraged to bring their smart phone, tablet or laptop to the workshop.

Seats are limited and pre-registration is required and can be made online at www.ksbdc.org or email Deidrea Niece at dmniece@moreheadstate.edu. For more information, call the Small Business Development Center at 606-783-2895.
