MSU area consultants recognized at KSBDC conference
Morehead State University SBDC staff received awards for its achievements at the Kentucky Small Business Development Center conference held in Lexington.
Amy Miller, Data Entry Specialist I, Kim Jenkins, Ashland SBDC consultant, Mark Murphy, district director, and Michelle Spriggs, Pikeville SBDC consultant (pictured above, left to right,) were inducted into the exclusive Kentucky Small Business Development Center Million Dollar Loan Club. The honor is reserved for management consultants who helped clients secure a million dollars or more in loans to start, expand or purchase their companies. Murphy, Jenkins and Spriggs were among 11 consultants statewide who achieved this honor.
Murphy also was recognized as one of the top KSBDC consultants in total capital infusion with $6.7 million dollars of impact. Statewide KSBDC clients acquired more than $50 million in capital during the 2015-2016 fiscal year.
The Morehead SBDC office was awarded the Michael Rodriguez Traveling Trophy to acknowledge the largest performance achievement during the final six months of the fiscal year.
“I am so proud of the economic impact and contribution the Morehead District SBDC staff makes to our Commonwealth and it is an honor to recognize their accomplishments,” said Becky Naugle, state director. “The Morehead State University SBDC helped 22 clients start or purchase businesses resulting in 135 jobs created and helping those clients get over $10 million dollars of capital infusion in loans and equity. They also presented 28 training events in the region with 395 attendees for the fiscal year.”
MSU hosts the East Kentucky District offices of the Kentucky Small Business Development Center. KSBDC is a network of 13 offices located throughout the state that helps existing and start-up businesses succeed by offering high quality, in-depth and hands-on services.
