Northeast Kentucky Small Business Awards Breakfast slated for May 11

Morehead State University’s 2017 Northeast Kentucky Small Business Awards Breakfast will take place Thursday, May 11, at 8 a.m. at the Boyd County Community Center, 15606 State Route 180, in Catlettsburg.

“This year, we received 44 amazing nominations in nine categories. We expect 250-plus to attend including nominees and their guests, sponsors, and individual and company reservations. Although we cannot disclose this year’s award winners, we can tell you there are winners from each of the three counties,” said Kim Jenkins, event coordinator.

Rob Johnson, of WSAZ News Channel 3, will serve as master of ceremonies.

This year’s event was coordinated by the Morehead State University/Ashland Small Business Development Center, and some of the area's top leaders in banking, economic development, business and industry, and education including representatives from Ashland Alliance, Ashland Community and Technical College, Ashland Convention and Visitors Bureau, The BlackHorse Farm, City National Bank, Community Trust Bank, FIVCO-ADD, Grayson Area Chamber of Commerce, and United Way of Northeast Kentucky.

Nominees are:

  • Boyd County (19 nominees): Air Equipment Sales & Service, Bare Arms Indoor Range, Brown Landscape Management, CAB’s Catering, DJ's Kitchen Corner and Jones Home Improvement, Donnie’s Tri-State Formal Wear, Eternal Yoga and Pilates, Extreme Air, Graffix Connection, Mike Justice Enterprises, McQuaid Automotive & Marine, Patriot Barbeque and Diner, Matt Perkins (Ashland City Commissioner), Right Eye Graphics, Second Hand Rose, Slone Refrigeration, John M. Spears, CPA (Kelley Galloway Smith Goolsby), Speedy Signs and Banners, and Unforgettable.
 
  • Carter County (15 nominees): Action Tire & Service Center, Agape Home Helpers, Bledsoe's Auto Repair & Towing, Bluegrass Animal Clinic, Bush's Ribbon Rose Floral, John B. Dean, CPA (Jackson Hewitt), Duval & Moore Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Hitchins Food Mart, Hometown Health, James Do It Best Hardware, Sage Boutique, SW Grayson, Trixie’s Treasures, Walking on Sunshine Foot and Body Spa, and Wolfe’s Wrecker Service.
 
  • Greenup County (10 nominees): Pamela Gammon Photography, H&H Lawn Service, Paradise Pools and Spas, Pour House Coffee, Pride Athletics, Ross Real Estate Services - Greenup County Branch, Runyon Upper Cervical Chiropractic, Danny Tackett, CPA (Andrews, Tackett & Associates), Tech Wizard Computers, and The UPS Store.

Seats are $15 per person and reservations will be accepted through Monday, May 1.
