“It is an honor to receive the Katie Fryman Memorial Scholarship,” said Toy. “Katie made a difference in my life. Her memory reminds me that I can overcome anything, just as she did.”

According to Toy, she hopes to changes the lives of children by becoming an elementary special education teacher.

She was nominated for senior homecoming court and prom court and participated in the distinguished young woman scholarship pageant. A member of the volleyball team, she also is a member of her church youth group.

“Katie loved to help people. Katie also loved her school, because of that my family and I are honored to be able to help someone and to keep Katie's spirit alive within the school,” said Ethan Fryman, Katie’s brother.
