Record number of students enrolled at MSU’s Upward Bound programs
The Upward Bound (UB) and Upward Bound Math and Science Programs at Morehead State University began their 51st summer June 4 with a record high enrollment of 224 students.
UB Programs are academic programs designed to help students prepare for college by developing academic, social and cultural skills needed for success in post-secondary education.
The MSU programs serve Boyd, Carter, Elliott, Fleming, Johnson, Lawrence, Lewis, Magoffin, Mason, Menifee, Morgan and Rowan counties.
During the five-week residential program on campus, students attend classes in English, math, science, research, foreign language, martial arts, forensics, law, fitness and various other subjects. They also will attend a Lexington Legends baseball game, visit Kings Island and a Rally Day at Kentucky State University. Juniors will end their summer with UB by travelling to Orlando, Florida, for an educational trip.
Recruitment for UB programs will begin in August. If you would like more information, visit www.moreheadub.org or speak to the guidance counselor at your school.
